His major interest is the study of Arthur Conan Doyle, including a book on his Napoleon War stories, The Great Shadow (Ashcroft, B.C.: Calabash Press, 1996). He is currently Chairman of the Friends of the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection at the Toronto Reference Library and Honorary Solicitor to The Bootmakers of Toronto (He was Meyers, 1978). Other Sherlock and Doylean writings include contributions to the publication of Waterloo and Angels of Darkness and appearances in Canadian Holmes, B.S.J., B.S.M and Magic Door. With his friend, Hartley Nathan, he is the author of Investigating Sherlock Holmes, a collection of papers presented to The Bootmakers. In the other world, he is a lawyer, acting for charities and non-profit organizations, as well as small businesses.
