Marcus is one of the four co-founders and first president of The Reichenbach Irregulars of Switzerland in 1989. He gave inspiration to Vincent Delay to found a Sherlock Holmes society for the french-speaking part of Switzerland.He became a Baker Street Irregular in 2001. His investiture is Rosenlaui.
From 1999 until 2014, he lived on three continents thanks to his work as Delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
In 2015, Marcus got married and moved to London where he lives today and continues working for the ICRC.
From 2014 to 2017, he was a council member of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London. Since 2014, he has been active organizer of Sherlock Holmes Conferences (Alpine Adventures – Arthur Conan Doyle in Switzerland in Davos, Switzerland, in September 2014; Reichenbach and Beyond – The Final Problem Revisited, in Hasliberg-Reuti / Meiringen, Switzerland, from 31 August 2017 – 3 September 2017, visit http://www.221b.ch).
His most recent publication is “Who is Von Bork”, published in The Sherlock Holmes Journal in summer 2014. Marcus has done extensive research on Arthur Conan Doyle’s Swiss alpine adventures and presented two papers in that regard at the Reichenbach Irregulars conference Alpine Adventures – Arthur Conan Doyle in Switzerland in Davos, September 2104, at at the launch of the facsimile of The Abbey Grange at the Martin Bodmer Foundation, Geneva, in May 2016. His current research focuses on Arthur Conan Doyle’s formative years in Feldkirch as well as his love for automobiles. His forthcoming publication is on Holmes and cars for an upcoming BSI publication on Mobile Sherlock.
