Meeting – Oct. 27 – The Criterion Bar Association
The Criterion Bar Association will have a meeting on Friday October 27, 2017 (Chicagoland area, IL, USA).
The Cri Bar holds dinner meetings four times per year in which we offer toasts, host lectures and presentations, by guest speakers as well as Association members, and generally discuss and attempt to shed light on all things Sherlock. Reservations are required but we welcome interested parties and hope you will consider attending a meeting and getting to know us. The modest fee for dinner includes multiple courses with choice of entree. An optional cocktail ‘hour’ commences at six p.m. and dinner is at six-thirty…
The Cri Bar (as it is known) began in 1972. Co-founded by Margaret Smedegaard, our coeducational scion of the Baker Street Irregulars was born as a reaction to the gender restrictions maintained by existing Chicago Sherlockian societies at that time. Our newsletter is called the Cri Bar Crier (last issue here) and contains articles of note, references to other Sherlockian groups and activities, a Sherlockian crossword, quizzes and details about upcoming meetings. We hold dinner meetings four times per year in which we offer toasts, sponsor lectures and presentations as well as discuss and debate all things Sherlock. We are especially proud to be currently celebrating our 40th year.
Our membership comes from all walks of life and many parts of the Chicagoland area — and beyond! We welcome all interested parties to join us in the great game.
Souvenir from October 29, 2016.
